Stijn Coninx’s new film will be premiered on Saturday 9 November at the Rome Film Festival in the Alice nella città “Marina” section. The actors Luigi Lo Cascio and Donatella Finocchiaro will be present at the preview together with the rest of the cast and the director. Special guest of the event, Rocco Granata, the singer of Italian origins made famous throughout the world by the hit “Marina”.
The film was also presented at the Valladolid Film Festival in Spain where the shower of applause at the end of the screening was followed by the awarding of the Youth Jury Prize. Stijn Coninx said he was very happy with the award as it “underlines how this story of immigration and the desire to make one’s dreams come true is capable of fascinating even different generations”.
“Marina”, co-produced by Orisa Produzioni and the Belgian productions Eyeworks Film and TV Drama and Les Films du Fleuve by the Dardenne brothers, will be distributed in Belgian cinemas from 6 November by Kinepolis Film Distribution.
