The film “Una Ballena” , directed by Pablo Hernando, experienced an extraordinary run in the 2024 film festivals, confirming itself as one of the most fascinating works in the contemporary fantasy scene. After debuting at the prestigious Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, where it won over audiences with its unique approach to the neo-noir and sci-fi genre, enriched with horror overtones, the film continued its journey in other major film events. Subsequently, it was chosen as the opening film of the 35th San Sebastián Horror and Fantasy Film Festival, an honor that underscored the value of the work and the interest it generated with its visionary storytelling.
In San Sebastián, the audience especially appreciated the film’s ability to blend dark and surreal atmospheres with a story of great emotional impact. The festival journey of “Una Ballena” continued at the 62nd Gijón International Film Festival, an event known for giving space to auteur cinema and the most original voices on the film scene. Here, the film found a new dimension, dialoguing with a wider audience and demonstrating the versatility of its narrative language. The result of a co-production between Spain and Italy, “Una Ballena” was made thanks to the collaboration of Señor y Señora, Sayaka Producciones and Orisa Produzioni, with the support of Latido Films for international distribution. After this run, “Creatures from the Deep ” will arrive in theaters starting in January 2025, offering viewers an opportunity to reflect on and get involved with a work that knows how to stand out in style and content.
