ORISA PRODUZIONI was founded in 1998 by producer/director Cristiano Bortone. In the last 20 years we have been working in the field of independent features, documentaries, and creative television. Our films have been showing at major international festivals and received a number of awards and recognitions.
Among our feature films,
Marina by Oscar nominated Belgium director Stijn Coninx, co-produced with Eyeworks Film and TV (Belgium) and the Dardenne brothers (Les Films du Fleuve), entered the top 10 list of highest grossing box office of all times in the Flanders;
Maria, he doesn’t like it! by N. Vollmar, a co-production with Germany, topped at home box office with more than 1,5 million admissions;
Red like the sky by C. Bortone (2007) won an Italian Film award and Best film at more that 20 international festivals;
Saimir by F. Munzi (2005) Special mention at Venice Festival, won an Italian Silver Ribbon and was candidate at the European Oscar;
10 rules for falling in love (2012) with Italian comedy star Vincenzo Salemme, turned into a successful remake in the Czech Republic.
Our company also produced several award winning documentaries and worked with the main Italian TV channels on quality programs such as: Directors on directors (Tele+), A noi piace corto (Studio Universal), Italia Amore Mio (Rai 3), Skylab (Sky) e Diario di Classe (Rai 3 and Discovery Real Time).
The company is member of the European Film Academy and the ACE Producers. It is co-founder and Bortone is Managing director of the Sino-European producers association Bridging the dragon, official partner of EFM and Marché de Cannes and supported by Creative Europe and most of the European film boards.
Orisa has always been a pioneer in engaging the promising Chinese market. Bortone’s Coffee (2016) was the first Italy-China official co-production; the movie premiered at the Venice Days of the 73rd Venice Film Festival, it was in the official selection of China Movie Awards and David di Donatello Awards (for Best Producer).
Our team recently finished the post-production of our new movie The Italian Recipe, another Italian-Chinese co-production, directed by Zuxin Hou and co-produced by Kaixin Mahua (Fun Age Pictures), one of the major comedy distributors in China, who handled some of the biggest blockbusters of the last years.
