My place is here arrives in German cinemas on 17 April 2025

After its success in Italy, My Place Is Here is preparing to reach German audiences with its cinema release scheduled for 17 April 2025. Directed by Daniela Porto and Cristiano Bortone, the film is a touching story set in 1940s Italy that explores themes of discrimination, empowerment and resistance to social prejudice.

The story follows Marta, a single mother who, because of her difficult situation, is promised in marriage to a man she doesn’t love. Her fate seems sealed until she meets Lorenzo, the priest’s assistant, known as the “marriage man” but ostracised by the community because he is homosexual. They form a deep bond that goes beyond friendship and allows Marta to come into contact with a hidden and persecuted community of homosexuals. Through Lorenzo, Marta begins to become aware of her rights as a woman, but will have to face the weight of prejudice and the patriarchal culture that surrounds her.
The film has already received excellent feedback from Italian critics for its ability to tell the story of an often forgotten reality with sensitivity and authenticity. The film stands out for its emotional narrative and strong social commitment.

The release of the film in Germany, scheduled for 17 April 2025, has been made possible thanks to the distribution company Arsenal Filmverleih, one of the most important German companies specialising in the distribution of arthouse films.
